MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -A downtown Madison organization is getting a makeover.
Yahara House was chosen Tuesday for FLOOR360′s Design for a Difference free interior transformation. The first and third floor will be remodeled.
Yahara House is a community mental health program that focuses on recovery through social connection and meaningful activity.
“It’s exciting because Yahara House plays a huge role in our community here in Madison with mental health awareness, and they have a space that really needs an uplifting feel,” Michelle Belgiano, the director of sales, said. “They have great ideas that when we came and toured earlier to look at all of the potential candidates. They had great ideas already and so we felt very inspired and we felt like this was going to be the perfect place to just give a lift and a makeover to.”
The renovations for the project are community driven. They will need the community to donate paint and volunteer to help make the project come to life.
“We do this every year because we want to give back to the community,” Belgiano said. “This is a community that we’re in in the residential houses; we’re in the homes here and everyone in the Madison area is important to FLOOR360 and we want to make sure that we bring the gifts and talents that we have to our community as well.”
FLOOR360 will be meeting to discuss colors and designs for the remodel for the next couple of weeks.
They are hoping to start construction at the end of September or early October. The Design for a Difference program started in 2015.

Attorneys for Luigi Mangione have filed a motion urging a New York judge to allow the suspect in the 2024 assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson to appear in court without handcuffs or a bulletproof vest, arguing that the visible restraints are unnecessary.
The Tuesday motion comes ahead of Mangione’s scheduled court appearance on June 26.
The request, submitted to Justice Gregory Carro of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, calls for Mangione to be allowed to sit at the defense table with unshackled hands and in standard courtroom attire.
His legal team argues that the security measures, particularly the use of shackles and a bulletproof vest, serve no legitimate safety function and instead reinforce a damaging public narrative that depicts Mangione as dangerous. They argue that the visual impact of such restraints, frequently captured by the media, undermines his presumption of innocence.

Pointing to one photograph of Mangione's shackled ankles while seated in court that garnered more than 36 million views on X, his defense argued that it is impeding the accused killer of his right to a fair trial.

The motion also says that Mangione has not caused any trouble since his arrest in December 2024. He didn’t resist arrest, cooperated with law enforcement, and hasn’t been a problem in jail. He’s being held in a regular part of the federal jail in Brooklyn, meets with his lawyers almost daily without shackles, and has been assigned work inside the prison.

The defense said that in federal court, where Mangione faces the possibility of the death penalty, he was only made to wear leg shackles and did not wear a bulletproof vest or handcuffs.
They also say that making Mangione wear a bulletproof vest doesn’t make sense because everyone is required to go through a metal detector.

Mangione, a Maryland man, is the suspect in the assassination of Thompson on Dec. 4, 2024 in New York City.
Thompson was shot from behind outside a New York City Hilton hotel just hours before a shareholder conference. At the crime scene, police discovered bullet casings with handwritten words: "depose," "deny," and "defend," which drew comparisons to the book "Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It."
The now 27-year-old was arrested in Altoona, Pennsylvania, while eating breakfast after a McDonald's customer and employee recognized him from a wanted poster.
A federal grand jury indicted Mangione on four counts: murder through the use of a firearm, a firearms offense and two counts of stalking. If he is found guilty, he could be eligible for the death penalty.
In addition to the federal indictment, Mangione has been charged in Pennsylvania and New York.
In Pennsylvania, where he was arrested, Mangione has been charged with carrying a firearm without a license, forgery, providing false identification to law enforcement, and possession of instruments of crime. These charges remain pending.
In New York State, Mangione faces 11 charges, the most serious being first-degree murder as an act of terrorism. Prosecutors allege the murder was committed to intimidate or coerce a group and to influence government policy. Other charges include multiple counts of criminal possession of a weapon related to a ghost gun and silencer, as well as criminal possession of a forged instrument for using a fake New Jersey driver's license to check into a hostel near the crime scene.
His next state court appearance is set for June 26, while his federal court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 5.

Retirees and youngest adults likely to be hardest hit according to new report
When money is tight, cutting back on entertainment or shopping for clothes might be necessary, but health checks and treatments should still be a priority. However, for millions of Canadians, that’s a struggle.
The cost of healthcare appointments has led to 56% of respondents to a new survey delaying appointments or even giving up on them altogether. And while this is higher among those without insurance (71%) more than half (52%) of those who are insured have also put off seeing a medical professional, delayed filling a prescription, or skipped other healthcare.
The new survey from PolicyMe and Angus Reid reveals that dental care is the most commonly delayed service (35%) followed by vision care (28%), physiotherapy, massage therapy, or chiropractic care (24%), and mental health services (21%).
It also highlights the specific challenge for younger adults who are often transitioning from their parents’ insurance coverage and may not find that their employer has a plan. Two thirds of 18-34s say they have delayed a health appointment compared to 58% of those aged 35-54, and 47% of over 55s.
Although almost eight in ten respondents have some form of health and dental insurance coverage, over 55s are most likely to say they are uninsured (21%) often as the result of leaving employment and workplace coverage, but Gen Zs are not far behind (20%) as they are take control of their own insurance.
For those Canadians who have not delayed treatment the 2025 Insurance Access and Affordability Study shows that 29% of Canadians had to pay over $1000 out of pocket in the past 12 months for health or dental-related services, and 9% paid over $3000. Coverage gaps among over 55s means this cohort typically paid more on out-of-pocket expenses, averaging $1,321 in annual spending, compared to only $686 for ages 18-34.
Dental followed by prescription drugs and vision care are the most common out-of-pocket expenses incurred.  
Employer-sponsored benefits remain the most common form of coverage, with 40% of Canadians relying on a workplace plan, 23% are covered through their spouse, partner or parent, and 11% are using the new CDCP.
However, PolicyMe says the rise in self-employment has led to an increase in freelancers, gig workers, or small business owners who don't qualify for employer benefits, having no insurance at all.
